The Associates

As graduate students in the Mental Health Counseling program at Baruch College CUNY, we share a common goal of promoting positive mental & behavioral health outcomes. Within this goal lies room for diversity which allows us to work from various theoretical standpoints and apply a multitude of techniques that have been proven to be effective for many years.
Meet the Associates.

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite HOPE.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I believe that this epitomizes the nature of help and therapy as I see it. We may falter from time to time and endure disappointments, but there is always a limit to our hardships so long as there is no limit to our hope. As we strive for mental health, it is important to hold on to the hope that we can succeed. This is the message that I endeavor to foster in clients through an overall integrative approach to therapy, where clients’ needs and beliefs take center stage.

I believe that every human being has a good core, at least one outstanding talent, and is always more healthy than sick. By acknowledging one's individual strengths, and the possibility for happiness as a result of it, achieving one's personal goals and acquireing the skills for a healthier lifestyle becomes easier. As a Mental Health Counselor I encourage my clients and help them to uncover their potentials. I am especially interseted and experienced in working with mindfulness techniques and animal assisted counseling techniques.

A mental health counselor helps an individual adjust better basically . He doesn't tell him what to do, he rather helps him strengthen his own cognitive and behavioral mechanisms, therefore providing lifetime results (at the best of cases)

I am interested in the interplay between social, neural and genetic influences in the development and treatment of psychopathology.
Specifically, the role of disruptions on emotional processes, attention, decision-making, and other cognitive functions across multiple populations.

My personal outlook on the objective of counseling is that it serves as a process in which individuals are able to embark on a journey of self-exploration. Within my counseling career, my goal is to promote positive changes within the lives of my clients through the application of acquired integrative skill sets and approaches that have proven to do so. With my knowledge of therapeutic methods and dedication to the therapeutic relationship anticipated from my clients , together we can work towards achieving that goal.

In a growing individualistic society, empathetic relationships and bonds have become an exception rather than remaining the norm. The need to feel supported and be genuinely heard/understood is what I believe individuals seek. Counseling allows me to be an active source of therapeutic support in clients’ lives. Interests in psychodynamic theory and integrative interventions allow the use of empathetic listening for clients either within the adult population, or the commonly misunderstood adolescent population I aspire to work with.

“All we have to do is understand that we're all here for a reason and to commit ourselves to that. Then we can laugh at our sufferings, large and small and walk fearlessly, aware that each step has meaning”

― Paulo Coelho

“You as the individual have an effect on the world around you. If you can acknowledge, confront, manage, and maintain your dilemmas within yourself and on your own accord, you can extend that confidence and positive outlook on your own life, and your own purpose outwards. I have come find value in all types of therapy because they all have core motives of helping whoever is undergoing treatment. Ultimately, I would like to become a integrative mental health counselor in efforts to incorporate relevant techniques in efforts to provide customized treatment to better fit the individual at hand. Everyone is different.”
